WE NEED YOUR HELP
EMCY is starting a crowdfunding campaign to help promote young musical talents.
Dear music lovers,
EMCY is the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth: a network of national and international music competitions for young people across Europe. We have been promoting and helping young musical talents since our inception in the 1960s. In the half century that has passed we have grown in size to include over 50 national and international music competitions and the number and size of our projects has grown exponentially in the past few years. That has put a strain our small but very dedicated staff. Because of that dear music listeners, we are turning to you, our audience for help.
Since our beginnings we have been a self-sustaining organization that organizes concerts, masterclasses and various other learning experiences for young music prizewinners throughout Europe that relies on volunteers and fees from our member competitions for funding. We are now more than ever in a position to help young emerging musicians with an ever growing number of projects and concert opportunities. However we need to hire professionals which will be able to run and successfully manage them. Furthermore, our trusted secretary general Sophie will soon be a mother for the second time and we need to hire a substitute which will enable her to enjoy this wonderful time with her family while EMCY is able to keep doing its very important function in the music world.
We are also rebuilding our outdated website which serves as a pivotal point in the promotion of young musical prizewinners and that requires additional funding as well.
Our staff, which currently includes two members – our secretary general Sophie and her assistant Manuela – are working very hard to make all of this happen but they need help, so we are asking every music lover out there to donate what they can. (Our suggested donation is €10, but if you can give more please consider doing so — every little bit helps.)
We need our community now more than ever, as it is only through your support that EMCY can continue to bring talented young musicians to your concert stages and performance halls.
