Help Percy Breathe

As with many French Bulldogs our baby boy Percy has Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome. While this is common to his breed the severity varies from pet to pet. Percy’s is on the more severe end.

Percy is just coming up on 2 years old and is in need of a procedure called Brachycephalic Airway Correction. This will correct an elongated soft pallet, correct everted laryngeal saccules and open up his nostrils. Percy struggles to breathe all day long and at night. His elongated soft pallet causes him to have labored breathing and to work very hard to breathe while awake. It limits his ability to be active and causes him to be tired most of the time. At night he snores, not uncommon, but he also stops breathing at night as well. This scares us as does the possibility of him fainting from normal activity.

We knew the challenges this breed comes with when we got him. We have insurance for him that will help cover a portion of the costs. The problem is we have to pay the full amount up front and then be reimbursed, the surgeon will not take payment directly from the insurance company.

The estimate for the surgery is $5400, though it may be less. Once everything is complete then insurance will reimburse a large portion of this. We’re not sure exactly how much will be reimbursed but we are submitting for a pre-approval and authorization for the procedure.

We are asking for any help we can get to help our baby be able to breathe better. All donations we receive will be going directly to his surgery and once we get the insurance reimbursement we will be donating that to a rescue or another Frenchie Family in need to pay it forward.
