Our Pappos needs help<3
He had an old injury on his neck that left him with a bare spot. He scratched it a few times playing and it just eventually stayed irritated. The wound kept splitting open and it wouldn't properly heal & out of nowhere it grew outwards into a ball within a matter of days.
On November 20, I took Pappos in to see our vet to discuss removing the scar tissue on his neck. I dreaded having to put him under anesthesia but we couldn't wait any longer. The vet removed all the tissue & had it tested to make sure it wasn't anything bad.
The results came back as a high grade mast cell tumor. We were told Pappos would have about a year left. I thought my life was over when we got that call.
Right away we booked an appointment with an oncologist & tested everything.
His sonograms and xrays came back clear, & so did his liver and spleen aspirates. The cancer hasn't spread to his organs yet but it did go to his lymph nodes.
His cancer is super aggressive and he needs to get his lymph node removed in the next 3 weeks and needs to get a round of radiation after he is healed & possibly chemo after that. The lymph node surgery we're told is going to cost between $4-5k and the radiaton treatment is going to be around $8k. We don't know the prices of chemo yet because we need to see how his radiation goes first then we will be able to know if we can even do it.
Our insurance is stalling and Pappos cannot wait. If they give us money back, it will be used for his chemo costs & future surgeries. All money left over will be donated to other fur babies battling cancer.
I'm sure many of you know how expensive vet bills are and in NYC it's even worse.
I really need your help. ❤
