My name is Sharon Davis, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Clarksville, TN. I am a Military Brat from the Vietnam Era.
Our family struggled many years as our Veteran returned from Vietnam. He drank heavily, screamed and yelled at us, extremely controlling with my mother, and never entered treatment.
I am retired from Federal Civil Service (17 yrs Navy Memphis, 6 yrs VA Medical Center Memphis, 1 yr Army Ft Campbell. I worked 2 years after retirement as a Military Family Life Consultant at Ft Campbell.
I have been treating soldiers and veterans for 10+ years and see the following concerns:
Deployments affect the Veterans and those close to them.
Multiple deployments are tearing up families.
The VA Medical Center is not funded or staffed to meet all the Veterans Needs.
Our Veterans are needing treatment for their PTSD, Addictions, Depression, Anxiety and Personal Issues in their life.
Funding and timely treatment are extremely limited.

Welcome Home Ceremony
There are Veterans presently homeless due to fighting their PTSD. They may struggle to be in crowds, have
low frustration tolerance, and not able to keep a job.
The wounds they need help with are battle scars in the form of Mental Health.
Think how you would handle being gone from home, living in all kinds of conditions, adrenaline constantly running, watching war take hold of your life?
While visiting Pearl Harbor, I had the pleasure of meeting Veterans from the war. I asked if I could I have my picture taken with him. He was happy to do so.
