November 12th my son PJ had a outpatient appointment with the cardiologist and they did a EKG and a echocardiogram. We were walked to the emergency room and he was careflighted to Lucile Packard Children's hospital at Stanford. He was admitted to pedicatric ICU and they started him on a remodulin pump to treat him for pulmonary hypertension. The medication had a 50/50 chance to make him better. Unfortunately it made him worse and on the night of the 17th he stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest twice. They preformed CPR on him for 34 minutes. He suffered a moderate stroke on the right side of his brain. They intubated him and successfully got him on the Veno-Arterial ECMO machine(lungs and heart) He has been stable and they decided to do a Potts shunt heart surgery November the 23rd. The surgery went as planned but with more bleeding than expected so they did give him some
blood. They will be giving his heart time to rest before switching him to the Veno-Venous ECMO(provides support to lungs only). He will continue to be intubated until his heart is strong enough to support his lungs. They've done lots of bloodwork and testing to see what's causing the pulmonary hypertension. The doctors are thinking its pulmonary veno-occlusive disease but its still unclear. The only treatment option for PVOD (Pulmonary veno-occlusive disease) is a lung transplant. I have a meeting with the transplant coordinator on Monday the 26th to go over what a transplant entails for his survival and the workup details.

I am katies bestfriend she asked me to create this for her because she has a lot going on. I will be posting updates that come directly from her. Thanks everyone.

I want to thank everyone for all the support. Katie is all her way to Texas to live with me. She picked up pj. They sadly did not have a urn for children there so she’s ordering one. She is so grateful for all the love and donates it Means a lot especially from someone who thought she had no one. You are all angels and we cannot thank you for all the support and love . Pj is riding in the front seat for once. I am meeting her in Albuquerque New Mexico to ride with her the rest of the way to my house. She would not of been able to do this without all of your support. Thanks again ❤️

It is with great sadness to post this update on sweet PJ. At 144pm on 12-10-18 our little fighters heart stopped. He was being held close by his mother and his hands were held by auntie Amber and uncle Dabe as he took his last breath. He fought so hard and his little body was so tired. Thank you everyone for the prayers and well wishes for pj. The donations have been overwhelming with the love PJ had around him and also for katie.

Donations will also be going towards his cremation and to bring him back to Texas. Thank you all again.

UPDATE

PJ was very hypertensive last night so they suspected siesures but they did a EEG and it did not show any signs of seizures. So today has been a big puzzle to get him on all the right doses to keep him stable. The surgeon came by and informed me that his kidneys have been affected buy the lack of blood flow so function is not where the Drs would like it to be. He hasn't produced urine all day. This is what I know for today as soon as I hear more I'll let you know

His ct scan showed 2 small lesions on the back right side of his brain. It may affect his vision and motor skills but they won't know till hes off the seditaves and paralytics. He has a Heart Cath procedure 12/3 tomorrow morning at 8am. He has a lung biopsy. And depending on what they find during the Cath. he will have a open heart surgery where they put a chest tube from the right side of his heart to a oxygenator that sends oxygenated blood to the left side of his heart. The blood flow would complety bypass his lungs. So the oxygenator acts as a artificial lung and they will hopefully ween him off the ventilator and meds and he can wake up. Then he'd start physical therapy and he will be a canidate for the lung transplant.

Update from Katie.
