OUR FURRY FRIENDS ARE FACING EVICTION!
CAN YOU HELP THEM?
My name is Paul Howard, and I serve on the Board of Directors of the Morristown Hamblen Humane Society 300 Dice Street, Morristown, Tennessee 37814, a 501C non-profit operation. My efforts here, are to represent our shelter and board of directors whom we are all volunteers, to raise the needed funds to replace our current facility. We are losing the premises which has been our home since the late 1960’s. The City of Morristown has generously allowed us to use this building for years at no charge. However, the city has now decided to close our shelter and repurpose the land, and we have been told that we must move. We have been given a deadline, and must be out by late summer of 2017, specifically July 1st, 2017. Our current facility is literally falling apart and every day there is something that needs attention or repair.
We are DESPERATE, and in need of a new shelter with a deadline quickly approaching. We are actively searching for a new shelter location that would give us the capability to offer medical care, proper housing for nursing mother dogs and cats, a room for meet and greets with new potential pet owners, a surgery room and isolation areas for the sick animals that need extra care. Not one of those essential services can we readily provide now, without improvising. We do the very best we can with what we have, but at the end of the day, it’s not enough. We all feel that we could do more, if we had a better facility. However, now we and our furry friends are facing disaster, with nowhere to turn, or to go.
We do not have funds to buy a new building outright, nor will our county provide us with any assistance with finding or funding a new home for our animals. We are reaching out to our community, friends, animal advocates and animal lovers everywhere.
PLEASE HELP US! In order to provide a home for the animals currently in care and those that are expected, we need your donations. The funds raised through this campaign effort will be used to purchase and renovate a shelter that we can occupy from now and into the future. All funds raised will be directly deposited into the our "building fund" by the treasurer of our MHHS Board of Directors, Eddie Davis. We rely on the generosity of others to help us provide for those who cannot speak or care for themselves, the sick, the abandoned and the abused animals in our community. If we come up short on our fundraising goals, we will finance the balance. Anything in excess of what is needed to complete our new shelter, will be used to care for the animals.
