Help us open an animal sanctuary in Spain!
I am updating our goal amount and story as our mission has changed....
We are currently renting a parcel of land in the beautiful area of Vélez de Benaudalla in Southern Spain, and we want to raise the funds to buy it!
The land is 25,000m2 and the perfect site for an animal sanctuary. Our mission is to create an "open-plan" sanctuary where the animals are as free as possible, giving them the exercise and sense of exploration that they all need to be happy campers!
The sanctuary is going to offer a ton of activities, to cement our place in the community and start educating people about animal treatment. We want as many visitors as possible, to help get our animals adopted and in order to start rolling out a neutering program for strays in the local area. These are going to include:
- Fruit farming with monthly markets
- Pet residence
- Fitness classes and programs. Dogs and exercise? Sounds like a match made in heaven, right?
- Paint-a-dog-house activities for children
- Community dog walks
- Community picnics
- Volunteer programs
- Educational workshops on animals and fruit farming
- School visits / trips
- Bringing animals to the elderly
- Dog training workshops and seminars
And these are just the start! We want people to start incorporating animals into their daily lives.....and not on their plates! To see animals for the beautiful companions they are.
It's a lot of money to raise, but we have a year to do it in! It's cliché to say, but every little helps.....even the price of your morning coffee will help us get a step further to buying our sanctuary. These animals need us, and we can do this, we just need a little help.....from our friends ;)
