I have always been a very outgoing, fun loving, active person. Unfortunately, I have been sidelined by a sickness that has consumed my energy and physicality.
Despite taking control of my health in 2012 by losing 90lbs, the damage of years of uncontrolled high blood pressure had already been done.
Today, I am in desperate need of a kidney transplant. I have been on Dialysis since August of 2013 and the Kidney Donor List since 2014. In that time of waiting for a transplant, I have been on life support twice, and actually died and had to be rescucitated twice in March of 2014.
In addition, I have developed a secondary condition as a result of my kidney disease. I have become severely anemic, and have had to have 3 blood transfusions in a 3 month span this year alone. My anemia, coupled with the stress of dialysis, has made me extremely fatigued and plagued with bouts of irregular heart beats and shortness of breath with any physical exertion. I literally get short of breath showering or doing something as simple as loading clothes in the washing machine.
Because of my health, I have been forced to stop working, something I have done since I was 14 years old. I pushed myself to work through my disability for four years, up until last year, when my body would no longer allow it. I’ve even tried to do Uber and food delivery to earn extra income but I’m just too tired because my body doesn’t have enough blood circulating to my heart to support the physical exertion required.
Although I do receive disability from Social Security, those benefits are not enough to cover my expenses, and are paid to me in the 3rd week of the month, putting me behind on all of my financial responsibilities such as rent light, gas, & insurances, every month. Despite my consistent and determined efforts to get them to do so, the Social Security Administration will not change my payment dispursement date, so I can at least avoid the late fees on my rent.
I have held on to my pride and not asked more people for help for far too long. I have been ashamed of my sickness and have kept it secret from most people who know me. But now the stress of struggling to take care of myself so that I can get healthy and worrying about how I will catch up on my financial responsibilities, especially my rent, is taking even more of a toll on my health.
I am not asking for your help to fulfill any vain need or extracurricular lifestyle like hair salon visits or vacations. My only goal is to be able to catch up on my RENT & bills so that I can stop adding stress to my already diminished health because every month I’m scrambling to pay my rent with all the late fees attached, have enough gas to get to dialysis every week & other necessary life expenses we all have as adults.
By the grace and mercy of the most High God I don’t have a car note and have been getting by this long. I thank Him for all He has done and I’m certain he will put it on many of your hearts to be a blessing to me.
Any monetary donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.
And if you find it in your heart to become a kidney donor, I am type O- Blood and would GREATLY appreciate you getting tested to see if you’re a match! Even if you don’t have O negative Blood you can still be a donor for me through what is called a chain or swap program. (That’s a program where if you match another person that needs a kidney, and the person they have to donate matches me, we swap donors and everyone’s surgery is done at the exact same time so no one gets shafted)
