Help Natalie to Her Feet Again

In December of 2014 Natalie's life changed after been hit by a taxi driver who ran a red light. She is now left relaying on her partner Jason and needing to use a wheelchair.

The young mum of two beautiful girls one of whom is profoundly disabled with life limiting illnesses was on her way home from the gym when she was hit by the driver, it was left to passers by to attend to her as the driver just sat in his car with no signs of remorse.

Paramedics attended the scene where Natalie was laid unconscious in the road needing urgent attention. To make matters worse, Natalie's partner was on his way home with the couples youngest daughter when he came across the incident. "Jason said, I was driving home with my daughter when I noticed some commotion ahead, thinking nothing of it my intention was to continue driving and just get home. What stopped me was seeing Natalie's white bag in the road, I had an instant sinking feeling in my stomach, as I turned the corner there she was laying on the wet road looking lifeless, I honestly didn't know what to think".

She was rushed to hospital where she underwent brain scans, MRI among other treatment, and after a stay in hospital was released back to the care of her then GP. As the days went on she became worse suffering with agonising pain, the GP requested a further MRI which showed bulging disks at C3/4 4/5 & 5/6 with abutting and impingement of the spinal cord.

By this point Natalie was on a cocktail of drugs all of which offered little to no relief at all, pleas for help seemed to fall on deaf ears as the GP told her it was the accident that was the cause and she may just have to learn to live with it. They offered a final referral at the MSK centre where she was seen by doctor, again she was let down told that the most likely cause of the pain was muscle damage or in fact relating it to mental health.

"The couple admitted at this stage they were so desperate for answers they in fact were willing to pay for a private consultation to see if this would shed some light, requiring a letter from the GP for the referral to go ahead they asked the surgery for a letter and unbelievably were told no, when questioning the reason their response was the doctor feels everything has been done and feel nothing else would work"

Now in 2017, Jason was downstairs one day seeing to the girls when he heard Natalie scream, rushing upstairs to find her collapsed between the bed and floor. Natalie said I can't move, I can't move. Worried he took her to the hospital where she was admitted and further tests were carried out, she was seen by 4 different specialists non of who could come up with an answer. Natalie was asked by one doctor and I quote "you need to be honest and tell me what's going on at home" We simply could not believe our ears.

Jason who is a former soldier said "I had to quit my job in November 2017, it was a very hard decision for me as I never even take days of sick but when your family needs you it's the right thing to do" Jason is now full time carer to both Natalie and their eldest daughter as well as looking after Alicia 6.

"one of the hardest things I've ever had to do is watch my partner go from been independent, bubbly and outgoing to a shell of her former self, she's lost all her confidence and now relies completely on me for personal cares, chopping her food just all the things that we take for granted"

Natalie mentioned "watching my partner doing all the things I once did is very hard to see, I was a full time carer to our daughter, I was the home keeper and I took pride in my home. I did most of the school runs and took my little girl out when her sister was at respite, now I can't do any of it"

The couple are now in a race against time to get Natalie that much needed diagnosis before she is left in a wheelchair permanently, they have no alternative but to seek private medical care. Jason has researched a number of specialists and been in contact with them directly to see if they feel they can help. One specialist abroad feels Natalie is a prime candidate for surgery but would need to be seen by his team first.

We are not a family who usually asks for help, I am a proud man but today I'm asking for help, I'm asking you to help my girls get their mummy back, help me get my partner back but most importantly help Natalie to her feet again.

"it's hard to over exaggerate just who much life has changed for us, because of one persons wreck less actions our whole world has been turned upside down. He owes Natalie a new life"
