Let me introduce my Niece Ammie.
At age 11 she was diagnosed with Leukaemia.
While the chemo cured her cancer, it also destroyed her lungs.
Ammie's lungs slowly deteriorated and she required a lung transplant.
She got that miracle at age 17.
It was touch and go, with strength and determination, Ammie managed to lead a near normal life.
She completed a Diploma in Graphic Design and Interior Design and was helping out with her mums cleaning business.
Ammie is a lover of animals and has 2 fur babies of her own, a dog names Pebbles and a cat named Nala. These 2 are treated like her real babies as she is unable to have her own children.
They both sleep with her every night and are spoilt rotten.
Life continued on until she got a cold and cracked a rib from coughing, so she was admitted back into the Alfred Hospital.
In the following weeks her breathing become harder, anxiety and fear set in when she had to be put on life support and wait for another lung transplant. Another miracle came and she got another healthy lung, but Ammie has been fighting for her life, for so long she is tired, weak and still on life support and there have been other complications requiring more surgeries in the past few days. As you can Imagine this is putting a huge emotional and financial strain on the single parent family, as no one can work, as the family is wanting to spend as much time at the hospital with Ammie as possible during this time. Due to them living 60km away they receive no help staying close to the hospital, they have to pay full price in motels close by as everyone needs some rest eventually, but needing to stay as close as possible to the hospital to be close to Ammie and on call 247. This family has never asked for a cent throughout this journey, so if you could spare any amount to help out it would be so greatly appreciated.
