Friends and family,
Our mom has been suffering from Osteoporosis for some time, but through the year it has been getting much worse. Her bone density is decreasing rapidly, leading to a deformity in her lower spine and a broken hand. In the last few months, she was also diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Between both of these debilitating diseases, it has caused her severe and chronic pain, from which she has yet to find relief. As of now, there are limited treatment options available to her, though she has an appointment with a specialist for her spine. She recently went through a treatment of Prolia injections that are supposed to help reduce fractures and increase bone density. After receiving the injections, her pain has increased substantially. We are hoping the severity of the pain will lessen soon, but we do not know when she will begin to feel better. She has had to miss work due to this, and she is currently on extended unpaid leave. Our dad has been unexpectedly taking time off work to take our mom to appointments and help her with whatever she needs. Between the two of them missing work and the constant medical visits, this has been a huge and unexpected financial burden. Our parents are unaware we are reaching out for help, but we feel they deserve it. For years, they have always been there for friends and family in need, and now they could use a helping hand. We are asking for donations to help cover medical costs, lost wages, and holistic medicine. We are searching for ways she can manage pain, and we will be trying salt therapy, float tanks, massage, and acupuncture treatments, which we are defining as holistic medicine. This is really difficult and uncomfortable for us to be reaching out asking for help. Seeing how quickly this is progressing and how badly she is suffering is terrifying, and we are desperate to help find ways to ease her pain and slow the progression of the diseases.
