Help My Classroom! - First Year

As a first year educator, I never imagined how much of your own money goes into making an inclusive and inviting space for your students. I have already spent over $500 of my own money and it still has yet to make a great space for my classroom. Many things are not provided for me. For example: I would love a classroom set of the novel "The Hate U Give" but would need to purchase it myself. I need bookshelves. I need supplies. I even need a desk chair and trash cans. This room was almost a blank space for me.

About my school and experience: I teach English Language Arts at a Title 1 highschool (low income). I am going through an alternate certification program to earn my license meaning I made the conscious decision to go into teaching after having done other careers. I also coach Junior Varsity Cheerleading.

Please help me build my classroom community and provide valuable instruction to the future leaders of this world.
