Help my brother Paul fight GBM brain cancer

Donation protected
I have stared at a blank screen for hours trying to come up with the right words to type, for 12 months on, we are all still reeling from the devastating diagnosis of my brother Paul’s brain cancer.

On Friday 29 June 2018, whilst at work, my brother Paul suffered a seizure and collapsed in my arms.

After a craniotomy for a biopsy of a suspicious lesion, he was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) tumour, the deadliest and most aggressive forms of Brain Cancer.

Paul has only just turned 40, he and his amazing partner Susy are parents to two divine little girls, my nieces Aria, 3 and Bella 1.

In a time that should be the happiest for his family, Paul and Susy are now faced with the heartbreaking reality that their family unit in its current form is to be short-lived. We are all absolutely devastated.

Unfortunately, both radiation and chemotherapy have not proven to be successful in stabilizing tumour growth.

In January 2019, a secondary tumour was detected which has subsequently started growing exponentially.

These therapies have stripped muscle tone from Paul’s body, having affected his left side and rendered him mobility impaired.

Susy had to close down her business of 10 years to now become Paul’s full-time carer whilst also juggling the raising of their girls.

Recently, after yet another hospitalisation, they were told that they are fighting an uphill battle with the progression of Paul’s tumour, with his only relief being the increase of steroid medication to ease the debilitating symptoms of brain swelling.

We’re not done fighting yet. More importantly, Paul isn’t done fighting yet – he is determined to not leave any stone unturned in his biggest fight yet!!

We have investigated other options out there and we won’t stop searching. These options are unfortunately extremely costly  but so worth trying for.

On behalf of Paul and Susy, and together with our mum Gabrielle, sister Alicia and brother Christopher, we would like to put it out there to ask for assistance with any donation anybody can spare to contribute towards raising funds to pay for Paul’s ongoing therapy and to help ease the financial burden of this cruel situation they find themselves in.

We welcome any donation you can spare and thank you all so much for your ongoing support during this time.

With love, Biviano Family.
