Help Mutu Fight Cancer #match4mutu

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Amy and I’m raising money for my Uncle Mutu who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. He’s only 28 years old and according to Cancer Research UK only 3 out 100,000 males in the UK are diagnosed with colon cancer at his age, making it extremely rare. I found out he was sick after I finished my university exams and now I’ve devoted the whole of my summer to help him in anyway possible.

He recently got married last year on the 29th of July to my Auntie Loise. I love weddings so flying out to Kenya to be with all my family was an amazing experience. All 13 of my uncle’s nieces and nephews were in attendance and the partying went on until the late hours of the evening.

I know finding out he was sick before his 1st wedding anniversary has been extremely difficult for him but he puts a brave face on for everyone.  He’s just completed his first week of chemotherapy and when speaking to him, he says he’s fine just a bit drowsy and proceeds to go on endlessly about the World Cup. If I hadn’t mentioned previously, Uncle Mutu loves football, which makes conversation with me rather interesting as I didn’t even know the World Cup had started until I started seeing England flags popping up in car windows.

Uncle Mutu currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya where the rest of my extended family is and requires urgent medical  treatment. However, unfortunately in Kenya, healthcare isn’t free. I was so desperate when I found out his diagnosis  that I tried to find out if there was a way I could transfer the NHS treatment I’m entitled to over to him.  I know it sounds silly, but I was trying to think of anyway possible I could help him get the treatment he needs.

I have written to the Royal Marsden Hospital to find out the possibility of him getting treatment there as I believe he will receive the best care in the UK. The overseas team kindly responded to my e-mail and informed me that they would be able to give him treatment which would include 4-6 rounds of chemotherapy as the cancer has spread to his liver as well as surgery to remove the 10cm long and 3cm wide growth in his colon.  The total cost for his treatment and care would be £90,000. Just thinking about how big that number is scares me but I’m a strong believer in faith.

Any help or support would be greatly appreciated. Even if you are unable to donate money, you can show your support for him by using  #match4mutu when watching the upcoming World Cup matches.

Thank you
