Help Mike Turner after a Near-Fatal Accident
Mike Turner was in a Near-Fatal Accident when a backhoe pinned him against a storage container. He was working alone in a remote area of Illinois when he was crushed. With no one around for miles, he had made his peace, knowing that his life was ending.
After a painful eternity of time had passed, a string of miraculous events led a friend to find Mike. He was air-lifted to a trauma unit hours away. His condition was critical but he survived!
Mike has been in the hospital for 7-weeks and counting! He is making huge strides in recovering from life-threatening and crippling injuries. He is making amazing progress but he will need long-term care, extensive rehab, and a lot of medical intervention and equipment.
The work that Mike has done for years has benefited so many. As a hard-working provider, loving husband, father, and friend, he has been taking care of others for decades. He's the last person to ask for help from anyone, so I'm here to ask on Mike's behalf and on behalf of his family to please share what you can.
Your generosity will allow Mike to concentrate on his recovery. It will also help his wife, Stacey, focus on being his full-time caregiver without either of them having to worry about being able to put food on the table because of their drastically reduced income.
Mike's life has been forever changed by this horrific accident, but we can lend him a hand, ease his mind a bit, and let him know that his friends (old and new) and his family love him and are there to help.
Please donate what you can.
We Love Mike Team
Mike is working exceedingly hard to regain full functionality, but it looks like he still has at least two surgeries ahead of him to work toward that goal. Recovery for Mike will continue to be a long, steep road ahead for years to come, so your kind support has been imperative to his success on all fronts.
With that said, mostly today I want to offer my thanks to you. Yesterday, I had the privilege of forwarding over $3000 GoFundMe funds to the Turner Family. And it couldn’t have been more timely with their expenses mounting.
So, from my heart and on behalf of Mike and Stacey, thank you so much!! ♥️
PS - Please continue to share this campaign. Your sharing makes all the difference in the world. ♥️
Mike is currently in physical therapy three days a week. He's working hard (you can tell because he ends up all sweaty ). He's working on his leg and hip muscles and his balance. Afterward, he's battling some joint and muscle pain.
He's had some trouble sleeping due to nerve pain, and an inability to get comfortable. He also has trouble rolling over in bed because of the damage to his hips. So things definitely aren't always peachy, but overall, he's making real progress. He's becoming a pro with the walker and gets himself around really well.
If you know Mike, then you also know that he's really antsy about not being able to do much. Sitting around is not his style. Hopefully, he'll continue to improve and not be stuck "watching time go by," as he says, for too much longer. I've honestly never seen someone so determined to walk unaided. His attitude and perseverance never cease to amaze me.
If you throw in doctor visits for both of us, and the fact that I'm in physical therapy too (for the knee I had surgery on the week before his accident), you can see our schedule is pretty busy. Not to mention the extra pt work we do at home. Still, it's so much better than it could have been.
Again, we're so grateful and overwhelmed by the love and support everyone has shown us both.
In fact, he gets discharged from the hospital tomorrow. Please don't think this means he will be back to work. Mike still has a long way to go. And it could take up to a year for him to regain the full use of both legs. He'll be in physical therapy three days a week, and we will have exercises to do at home on off days.
We do welcome visitors, but please call, message, or text first. Thank you all so much for your amazing generosity! We appreciate all the shares, donations, love, and support more than we could possibly express. ❤️
From the bottom of my crazy little heart, THANK YOU so much for your generosity! You are proving just how powerful love and friendship can be, especially when it's needed the most!
You all are earning your Wings!
Here's a quick update from Stacey Turner (Mrs. Mike):
"Look who’s back in his hometown! We are safely ensconced in Blessing Hospital’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. Due to a schedule of Physical therapy and occupational therapy appointments (which changes from day to day), visiting would be best done either in the evenings or on Sundays. If you need to come during the day or on Saturday, please give one of us a call or text to be sure he’s not going to be in a session or having tests or procedures. I cannot tell you how happy we both are to be here, though we will miss the nurses who became like family there.
"And again, thank you all so very much for the constant encouragement, gifts, emails, and cards. The support and love is so very much appreciated. "
So that's the scoop for today, dear friends.
Keep checking in for updates, and please KEEP SHARING!
PS - Notice that Super Man shirt? Yay, Mike!
