Help Michelle / Karma get to IWPS

Individual World Poetry Slam is an annual competition with poets from all over the world facing off to see who's the best. This year, it will be held in Spokane, Washington from October 11th to October 14th.

I am a young poet from New Jersey who has been slamming in the adult scene since I was 15 years old. If you didn't know, you have to be 18 and older to compete in most national poetry competitions. Year after year, I'd watch my friends qualify for numerous competitions and aspire to join them one day. When I turned 18 last year, I competed in multiple slams around my area and it paid off!

On May 26th, 2017, I managed to become Advanced Slam's second ever Grand Slam Champion. Originally, they weren't going to send a representative to IWPS this year, but I asked them to let me represent them. This is not my first national competition but it is my first time competing without a team. I am super excited to compete and represent Advanced Slam as well as the entire burough of Staten Island.
