Help Merri Help Lee Quick

Hello, friends-

On November 6th, my best buddy H. Lee Quick (my college roommate, the Laverne to my Shirley, the Thelma to my Louise) had a freak accident.

While running her German Shepherd, she tripped and fell. HARD. She broke both of her wrists (fracturing the left, and shattering the right) and busted up her pretty face a little bit.  

She is scheduled for some delicate surgery on her wrists (those wrist bones are tiny!) on 11/15/2018.  She is being well tended to by her boyfriend, David.  

That being said....She can't feed herself, she can't bathe herself and the care giving is going to be pretty intimate and intense.  I would very much like to go to her and assist for as many days as I can. 

I don't have a bunch of available days off, but my intention is to fly to Santa Rosa, CA on Thanksgiving day, and stay through Monday.   (They have 4 cats, and I'll die of allergies if I sleep there, so I'm planning on staying at a very nearby hotel 4 minutes from their house and take the day shift with Quick.)

This will give David a break, and give him time to tend to other matters (work, errands, dog running, etc...)

Anyhooo....it's expensive to just suddenly fly into wine country during the holiday season.  (Wouldn't it be cool if there was a sliding scale?  Like, I'm not flying for FUN, it should cost less, right?)  I'm going to book my flight and my hotel today (11/14).  Putting it all on plastic.  

If anyone at all is in a position to chip in, I'd welcome the help.
