Loving Family in Need

My third grade son came home from school and told us that his classmate, Melissa, had been crying. Her father was terribly sick in the hospital and they didn't know how they would pay their rent. When we spoke with the family, we learned about their tragic circumstances. 

On April 10th Melissa's father, Raul, went in for surgery and was expected to make a quick recovery. Instead, his aorta ruptured and he suffered multiple strokes.  

Friends of Melissa and Lorena and our McKinley third-grade classmates are reaching out to the community for help.  We can't return Raul's health, but we are hoping to ease the family's financial hardship.  Raul is the breadwinner and no child should have to worry about the rent.  We are hoping to raise six months of rent and a modest financial cushion while Melissa's family figures out their next steps.
