Meeko's Operation

Donation protected
In the late summer of 2017, we took in Meeko after a friend found him and his litter in the the streets outside her shop. He's learned to overcome a huge obstacle—which is the inability to use his back legs. At first, we thought the problem was the lack of strength in his legs, however, we've come to find that it is a neurological problem where he has the lack of connection between his brain and his legs. He was able to work around this issue and learn to move in a different manner.

A week ago, we ran into the problem in which he refused to eat and had blood in his feces. The week has been a series of ups and downs as he would eat and move around some days, and remain lethargic for others. We've taken him to the vet several times and they have not been able to come to a complete diagnosis with his problem—other than understanding that it is a gastrointestinal and neurological problem. We've come to a point where we only have two options with our time running out. We can either put him down or try to hospitalize him and possible have an operation done. If we hospitalize him, the doctors will take him in for a day, run several tests, observe him to fully diagnose the problem and determine wether an operation will be best for him. The hospitalization fee will be $400 at the minimum, and if the operation will be done on him, the cost will be $3000 at the minimum.

Meeko has been a trooper from the start and we love and care for him greatly. We've seen the strength in his eyes and we know that he's not ready to pass yet. We are hoping for some help as we aren't able to afford the operation by ourselves.
