Help me Feed the Kids

As some of you may know, Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. This beautiful country’s vulnerability to recurrent natural disasters has historically impeded its ability to improve their poverty-stricken position in the economy, and current projections for the country are nothing short of bleak. Recently, I was fortunate enough to observe firsthand how these conditions affect the innocent children that inhabit this land. Upon witnessing these dejected, starving children, my friend and I felt we needed to do something to help. With just a couple hundred dollars, we were able to feed an inordinate number of these children. The heartwarming experience quickly turned heart breaking, as we ran out of food, but the children kept running toward us. For the children lucky enough to get a plate of food, their faces lit up as if it was Christmas morning, and as the food ran out, it was as if Santa had run out of presents for the remaining famished children. We felt helpless, we knew we had to come back.

It is because of this part of our trip to Nicaragua that we have decided to return, and this time we are aiming our sights significantly higher in terms of what we can provide to these children.
