Help me buy a wheelchair

Donation protected

Back in December 2010 I fell on the ice on my way to a meeting about voluntary work with the Chesham mayor. I badly damaged my ankle, when my foot turned inwards and smashed the sticky out bone (medial malleolus). I needed five days in hospital after having pins put in my ankle.

I've had five rounds of physio, injections into my feet etc. The last lot of four injections into my ankle joint  which were supposed to help ended up badly damaging a nerve a nerve in my foot and caused a nueroma and nueralgia. This makes moving around incredibly painful even though I take twelve tablets a day to try and control the pain. Sometimes the pain is so bad I would cut my leg off to stop the pain.

A sidce effect of my current medications is feeling drowsy all the time. I am really scared that I will be out shopping using my cane and have yet another fall. The last time this happened I had a cut across my face that just missed my eye and spent a day in hospital.

I can manage at home by using furniture, walls and handrails in bathroom etc.

If I am to go on days out, shopping etc. I need a lightweight, fold up wheelchair. I'm not asking for a deluxe mobility scooter that goes a 100mph and acccelerates from 0-60mph in a few seconds just a wheelchair to help me have some sort of quality of life.

I have checked NHS options and sadly they can't help.

I have no family and no savings, I don't earn anywhere near enough to fund a chair myself.

The top photo is off my injuried foot about two days after I did it and  four days before surgery to put pins in ankle (photo 2).

Thank you very much for reading my story. If you can't afford to help in the crowd funding, please share on Twitter and Facebook instead, any help very welcome - Elliott
