Help me become an Egyptologist

Donation protected
Dear Sir or Madam,

my name is Marija Tomashevska, graduated BA student in the field of Archaeology from the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, Macedonia. In order to continue furthering my knowledge I applied at the Leiden University in Holland, at the Master's programme in Classics and Ancient Civilizations,in the field of Egyptology for enrollment in September 2018, where I was accepted.

A friend of mine recommended this site where people from all over the world can help you achieve your dreams. For me it was very hard to qualify for any other scholarship or Master's studies grants because of the peculiarity of my choice of study and the country that I come from .As you already know I come from a country with a third-world economy, which does not offer scholarships and financial aid for students in the fields of Archaeology, studying abroad or at home. Meaningful financial aid from my family is also not an option.

For the past 6 years, it was my dream to attain an opportunity to study at the Leiden University in Holland. With that goal in mind, I have worked hard to save funds for my further education in the field of Egyptology. Even thought these funds suffice to cover partial section of the tuition fee for the period of studies in the Netherlands they are not enough to cover all expenses.  At this moment, there are no opportunities for employment which will allow for me to save for the needed amount to cover full tuition (17.000 Euros)  plus living expences. I hope you will take in consideration my financial situation and my desire to improve my knowledge and contribute to the society of Archaeology and Egyptology.

Furthermore, I would like to support my fund raise by telling you a little bit more of why I chose this school and why this exact Field.

I have decided to apply for this master programme because I am sure it will educate me in the skills and development I need to pursue my future studies and chosen career. Moreover, I find this programme an excellent opportunity to cooperate and learn from the most prominent academic minds from all over the world and hopefully, to become in the future a member of a research or academic team that will contribute to the archaeological knowledge and society.  With this knowledge upgrade one day I will be able to compare and study the archaeological finds from the territory of Republic of Macedonia with the finds from Egypt and their correlation on different levels throughout the course of history. Besides the theoretical knowledge and methodological skill improvement that I can achieve at the Leiden University, taking part in this programme is a perfect chance to develop both personal and professional experience by interacting with top students of other nationalities, discovering new cultures and traditions, and by that share ideas that will expand our horizons beyond a single person’s vision. I am very unfortunate to say that the universities in my home region do not offer a programme which meets my choice, as the preference is put on the research in regional phenomena. While I understand that this is a practical limitation dictated by the funding and profile of the teaching staff, I do not want this to put an end to my love in Egyptology. I want to study at the Leiden University because I find it the best place where I can achieve to understand better a field that was very much the focus and main love during my BA studies. I hope that all this will be sufficient for you to help me and give me this opportunity of improving my skills and one day letting me transplant the same knowledge and skills that I can gain, to the future generations of Macedonian students that will be interested in studying the culture and history of Egypt as well. Furthermore, this may one day open an opportunity and result with a collaboration between the Leiden University and the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius, therefore open more opportunities to the Macedonian students and actively include them in the research field of Egyptology. I believe that studying at the Leiden University will contribute to my development as a specialist of an international level in the best possible way.

I highly hope that all of you will assist in me becoming the first Macedonian Egyptologist and a researcher and specialist of an international level. Your good will, would be forever greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,
Marija Tomashevska
