Help Me Become Certified!

Hey guys!

For those who may or may not know me, my name is Latoya Shauntay Snell.  I am a 31 year old freelance culinarian and photographer.  On May 28, 2013, I decided to make a major change in my life by focusing on my health.

One week prior to Hurricane Sandy, I had a back injury while at work and was told that I have a herniated disc (L5, S1) and sciatica.  For a year, I was not able to move around in ease the way that I desired and thought that I lost the career that I fought so hard to get into.  After gaining a crap load of weight on my 5'3 and a half frame, I couldn't laugh past the pain anymore.  I decided to lose the weight to save my own life.  Before I knew it (and frankly not attempting to try), thousands of people started watching my personal journey to weight loss via social media.

I lucked up, scored an incredible interview on RedBook Magazine in June 2014 by my new passion for running, started participating in cycling events and lost close to 100 pounds.  Life kicked me in the ass and the weight started to creep back up.  Despite the weight gain, I felt pumped to participate in a marathon.  I realized that this was much bigger than weight loss and making it a lifestyle and the physical fitness is just a layer.

In turn, I started sharing my self designed workout routines, sometimes solo and other times with gym buddies, and posted them onto the Internet.  It's 2016.  I have over 50 running medals under my belt, completed several marathons, one ultra marathon, more than a handful of Spartan races and a lifetime full of adventures.  As the years passed, I have received loads of positive feedback about inspiring others and many asking for recipes, workout advice and being a positive role model to the community as a plus size athlete.  I figured that I'd return back to the culinary field after my time of being out.  Unfortunately, my son William, Jr. was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, in which is considered an auto immune disease.  It's such a drastic difference from Type 2, which many of aware of.  If you are not sure of how Type 1 works, please check out this link:  http://www.jdrf.org/about/fact-sheets/type-1-diabetes-facts/ With this said, it's been hard to keep a position in the culinary field, as our hours are typically long, unforgiving and at unorthodox hours of the night.  All in all, I want to make a career out of my happiness but I don't want to leave behind the culinary career that I adore.

In turn, I want to take the first steps in becoming certified fitness professional and using my food knowledge to bridge the gap.  If you could fund me, you would be helping me in the following certifications:

- AFAA Group Ex Instructor
- AFAA Practical Yoga Instructor Training
- National Academy of Sports Medicine - Certified Personal Trainer
- CPR/AED Training (Recertification)
- ACE Health Coach Certification
- National Academy of Sports Medicine - Fitness Nutrition Certification
- National Academy of Sports Medicine - Women's Fitness Specialist
- National Academy of Sports Medicine - Weight Loss Specialist
- National Academy of Sports Medicine - Youth Exercise Specialist

Each certification would help me help others safely and efficiently.  I want to be able to help others not only get physically fit but improve their eating habits and strive for their maximum potential.  One of my ultimate goals is to not only become a certified trainer and life coach, but to be able to give back to the community.  These funds will help me start the foundation of educating myself properly.

Ideally, I would like to start my some of my certification programs no later than March 2017 but if I can start sooner, that would be INCREDIBLE! In the meantime, I'll be continuing to participate in races and you can even see my constant blurbs about my fitness & food life by visiting:  www.runningfatchef.com.  It's my open, unapologetic diary of being a plus size athlete with a great passion for food, running, cross training, yoga and pole dancing.  In life, we are all in this constant pursuit of happiness and I hope that I can share the knowledge and wealth with proper education to help me execute it the best way possible.  To see further information about the certifications that I am interested in, please feel free to click below.  Even if you cannot donate a dime, a simple hit at the share button goes a long way.  Send me a "hey boo" for support so I know that you was there.  In the meantime, would you please GoFundMe.
