Help Marina Malikoff get a new home

Marina Malikoff, a 56-year-old Santa Cruz woman dealing with serious chronic health problems, has been renting for 30 years at the aging Beach Hill Apartments overlooking Monterey Bay.
Recently, she got a 60-day notice to move out. She asked the landlord why, but got no explanation. “It’s the first time I’ve been evicted,” said Malikoff, who once was a reporter for the Sentinel. “I’ve been renting since I was 15.”
Marina worked at UCSC before joining Santa Cruz Adult School, spending 14 years teaching English and writing to non-native speakers and to people in jail. Now she survives on disability checks that in 2017 totaled $14,390 — $1,199 a month. The average rent in Santa Cruz is two to three times that amount.
If you would like to help Marina find a new home and get back on her feet, any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
