Help Marie Study Abroad

Hi! My name is Marie Mokuba and I am in my third year at Goucher College. As you may know studying abroad is mandatory for all students attending Goucher. Through my experience as an immigrant, first-generation college student, and a Black woman I have learned that furthering my education is crucial to succeeding and standing resilient in a society that is not engineered in my favor. With this lesson in mind, I applied to a highly competitive semester long study abroad program in Paris called the Institute for Field Education (IFE) and got in! While there I plan to work for an NGO that advocates for and assists African refugees in France, specifically women. Because IFE is not used to being accessible to people like me, they expect me to have $4,500 in my account before my departure in January 2020 to ensure my survival in the ever so expensive city of Paris until May 2020. I am a college student currently working to support my family financially and don't have the financial security to fund this trip. So, I hope that you can donate whatever you can to my fund because I am determined to go to Paris and will not let inaccessibility get in the way of experiencing this once in a life time opportunity!
