Help Madison fight for her health

In the blink of an eye, our beautiful dancer Madison's health has taken a serious and scary turn. She has been diagnosed with PNH (Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinura) a very rare and serious disorder that causes her red blood cells to break down sooner then they should. This has caused her Aplastic Anemia- a rare condition in which the body, specifically the bone marrow, stops producing enough new blood cells. 

Madison is in bone marrow FAILURE and her condition is SEVERE. Only about 500 cases are diagnosed or year in the US, and 20,000 worldwide. It occurs in about 1 in every 1.5 million people, and is most common in adolescents. This can be fatal if not treated and can lead to long- term health consequences. Researchers are not 100% sure the causes of PNH and Aplastic Anemia and are continuing to look for possible links. 

Madison will be treated with medication to suppress her immune system along with antibiotics and anti-fungals to prevent infections, followed by and eventual Bone Marrow Transplant.  The only known cure for PNH is a Bone Marrow Transplant. She will have a port placed, take meningitis vaccines, continue to receive blood transfusions as needed, and begin the immunosuppressive medication immediately. Her brother Deuce will be tested to see if he is a match for the bone marrow transplant. In the meantime, treatment will involve 2 trips per week to Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami for several months for transfusions and infusions. 

Madison's life has changed. No school. No dance. No church. No beaches. No Park. No restaurants. She will not be able to go anywhere there is a lot of people who could potentially be sick, or activities that may cause bruising, bleeding or an exertion of energy. 

The family is seeking a second opinion at Boston's Children's Hospital which is the leading children's hospital in the nation. They are also leading the research in this rare disorder. It is important to do this as soon as possible, and the family will have to travel which poses even more threat to Madison's health and a strain financially on the family. With the loss of their 8 month old baby Sebastian "Sebi" due to Congenital Heart Disease just last year, the family has been fighting emotionally, psychologically and financially.
