Help Lily Belle Get Better!

Donation protected

Lily Belle is four years old and is the sweetest, most affectionate care you'll ever meet. She was a shelter cat who was a year old when I adopted her, and she is extremely grateful for the pampered existence she has led since coming home from the Humane Society. She follows me absolutely everywhere, from one room to another, and greets me at the door when I come home each day. She loves to play with her many toys and enjoys watching the squirrels I feed outside the window. She is the happiest cat I've ever known.
On April 21, Lily had her annual vet checkup. She was feeling great, and the vet said the only thing wrong was that she needed to lose some weight! On April 29, she began to act a little off, eating less than usual and lying around more than usual instead of playing or watching her squirrels.  At first it was a subtle change, but it got worse as the week progressed. On May 5, I took her to the vet. She had a fever and they gave her a shot to combat nausea. It didn't seem to help much, though, and by May 7 she was barely eating at all and had developed a limp. I took her back and had some blood tests done. They all came back normal, which was great, except we still don't know what the problem is! We also discovered a small scab on one of her toes, which might or might not be the reason for her limp. On May 8, she returned to the vet and got subcutaneous fluids, another anti-nausea shot, an appetite stimulant, an antibiotic shot in case her injured toe had an infection, and some pain meds to take home. She is still on the pain meds and they do help, but they make her feel funny. Today (May 9) she went back to check her vitals. Her fever has not gone down even with the antibiotics, so they gave her a shot of an NSAID to hopefully bring it down and relieve pain and took x-rays of her paw and leg, which showed nothing unusual. She will go back on May 11 to see if her fever is down, and the vet will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Lily Belle So far this has resulted in over $800 in vet bills. This would not be so bad if I weren't still paying for a few thousand dollars worth of necessary dental work for myself! What I am hoping is that the situation will clear up on its own soon. She is currently eating well with the appetite stimulants. If she continues to eat well when these wear off, her fever goes away, and her paw heals, she won't need more tests. If those things don't happen, she is looking at quite a few possible tests to get to the bottom of this, including an abdominal x-ray, urine tests, ultrasound, and possibly even an MRI or CT scan. This is not even counting possible treatment if they find something! I just want Lily to be her usual happy, playful self again. It kills me to see her feeling so miserable. I will do whatever it takes to get her feeling better. Anything anyone can do to help will make it a little easier to cover the quickly rising bills and make this ordeal a little less stressful for me!
Lily Belle is a patient at VCA Heritage Animal Hospital in Savoy. If you want to donate funds for her upcoming vet bills, you can contact them directly by calling the number on their wbsite: https://vcahospitals.com/heritage

Donating directly to this account helps me pay off the vet bills from the past week that I have charged to my credit card. Either way helps!
