Help Lexie have a heart

Donation protected
Lexie is a 5 month old Golden Retriever who has been diagnosed with a significant subaortic stenosis (enlarged heart). She was recently surrendered by her owners due to the significant cost of surgery. She is currently in the loving home of her foster parents, Donald and Theresa in Simpsonville, SC.

Lexie was seen at Upstate Veterinary Specialists (UVS) in Greenville, SC for an echo cardiogram, and then she was referred to and seen atThe University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine for a cardiac consult. We are hoping she will be approved for balloon valvuloplasty to improve the flow of blood through the aortic valve. This surgery would need to be performed at University of GA School of Veterinary Medicine. We will hear their recommendations soon.

The cost of travel and surgery will fall on the hands of Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue and her foster parents and therefore, any help is greatly appreciated to give this sweet little girl a fighting chance. Her prognosis without surgery is only a few weeks to a few months. With surgery, her prognosis will depend on the level of success.

This GoFundMe page was set up by a family member of Lexie's foster parents to help with the extensive medical costs, without depleting FHGRR funds, and to be able to reach as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time. Time is of the essence for Lexie, as her heart condition is only getting worse.

Funds collected will only be used for the cost of Lexie's medical expenses. If any funds are not used for Lexie, they will be donated to Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue.

Thank you!
