Help LeAnn Fight Medullary Thyroid Cancer

Donation protected
Around almost two years ago after being diagnosed w/ other conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Endometriosis LeAnn had a full body MRI done and found out she had a mass on her thyroid. She didn't exactly have the best doctors at the time so we don't know how long its been there for, but they advised her to see a rheumatologist. She did as told and it took many visits and of course a lot of time, but they finally decided to do a biopsy. When the biopsy came back all they could tell us was that there was about a 50% chance that it was cancerous. They gave her the option to either get it removed, or wait a couple months to see if it grows and go from there. She decided to schedule surgery to get it out, and by the time of surgery they did an ultrasound and it turns out it had grown since the MRI (it was now about the size of a golf ball) so they definitely were convinced this was the right decision. They did the surgery and it all went really great and she even got some immediate relief in terms of her heart rate. (Her resting heart rate was always around 120-130, and it now stays around the 70s) They got the mass out and we thought everything was perfect, and it was all over with...

At the post op appointment we went from thinking she had one of the easiest types of thyroid cancer to one of the most aggressive. From the mass her doctor removed we found out that the type of cancer she has is called Medullary Thyroid Cancer, it is very rare, aggressive, and incurable. At the moment she is only at stage 1, but her doctor wants to start acting fast because the cancer can very soon start spreading to her lymph nodes, lungs, liver, brain, bones, etc.. Her doctor recommended she see a cancer specialist in Houston Texas, and she had her first few appointments with him April 17-19. She was informed that she will be needing lots of treatment, and is now needing to go back every 6 months for more scans and testing. This is going to be an ongoing thing, and she may be looking at another surgery sometime in the near future. She is a mother of 3 children and it’s been very hard on them, she has to try her hardest to fight this for them and her husband.

Donations are very much appreciated and will be used to help towards medical expenses, (surgery, medication, doctor visits, testing, etc.) hotel costs, and money lost from husbands time off work caring for her and taking her to appointments. We know we’re asking for a lot, but really anything helps even a simple share.

Thank you, and god bless you...
