Help lay Jess to rest

$7,935 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 115 people in 20 months
Our sister Jess Whitledge passed away early this morning suddenly in a fatal car accident. She leaves behind two boys, ages 12 and 3, and her husband Ray, as well as four nephews she was helping raise. Jess was only 33 years old.  Jess unselfishly dedicated 100% of her time to raising her boys and helping raise her nephews. Because of this, she unfortunately had no life insurance through employment. Her husband works hard as a contract worker and does not have benefits through his job either.

The family is in utter shock and are unsure how they will meet the funeral expenses. Please donate and help our brother lay his wife and the mother of his children to rest. Any money donated will go to help pay for funeral costs. Anything beyond that will help Ray cover everyday expenses while taking a bit of time off work to grieve and care for his grieving children. Please give anything you can afford to give. If you can't give, please find it in your heart to share this story.

Update:

Today was a hard day. But we are so thankful for everyone's love and support through all of this. Jess was loved by many and will be greatly missed. We just about raised enough to cover the funeral and we thank everyone who shared and donated. Please continue to think of Ray and the boys over the next several months and please reach out to them when you can to let them know they still have support. There is a long road ahead and they will still need us. Thank you again, everyone.

Update:

I wanted to post another update and keep everyone in the loop. We are absolutely humbled by the amount of love, support, and donations that have come thru from family and friends. Jess touched so many lives and in hearing of her tragic death people have come together to show their love and willingness to help Ray and her boys.

It doesn't appear that there is any auto insurance on the driver (still investigating, but so far no info has been located). The only funeral coverage there is is a $1000 reimbursement thru Ray's auto insurance, which won't even come for several more weeks.

While the situation is tragic and dire, the fact that we only need another $1000 to cover the entire cost of Jess' funeral is absolutely amazing. After we are able to lay Jess to rest this Sunday, we hope to raise another $1-2 thousand to help Ray make ends meet. He wants to be able to take a few more days off work so he and the boys can spend time together to grieve.

We ask everyone to continue to share over the next few days. We are so very grateful for all you have done and we thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: First of all, we want to thank everyone again who has donated and/or shared. We are humbled and honored by the overwhelming generosity of our friends and family. The eagerness with which people have come forward to help is a testament to the number of lives that Jess touched in her all too brief time with us. Unfortunately, there has been a development that will increase the price of the funeral service beyond what was initially quoted.

When Ray and the family first met with the coroner, they were advised that Jess’s body would not be viewable due to the extent of the injuries sustained. This was obviously difficult for the family to accept, as they deeply desired to say goodbye. Despite their heartbreak, they decided to have a service with no viewing based on the coroner’s advice.

Since then, Ray has gone to see Jess’s body and found it is in better condition than we were led to believe. The family desires to give Jess an appropriate farewell, and to give all of her friends and family, particularly her parents, and her young children, the opportunity to see her and say their final goodbyes. Unfortunately, a service with a viewing adds significantly to the cost, so we are re-shareing the gofundme so the family can continue to raise the money needed to give Jess and her family the service they deserve. The GoFundMe amount has been increased to cover the entire cost of the funeral, with a small amount to cover other costs that may arise. We thank you again for you me love and support during this very difficult time.

Just wanted to post an update. Jess arrangements have were finalized yesterday. Her memorial service is scheduled for this Sunday, Nov 5th, at 1pm at Cone Funeral Home on Campbell Lane in Bowling Green, KY. We will gather to visit with family and friends first and then move on to the service. This fund has raised almost enough to cover the entire funeral expense. Ray and our entire family is so humbled by the amount of love and support that has been shown over the last few days by everyone that loves Jess and our family. We are so very grateful for every donation that has been made and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
