Help Lauri Knedlik Fight this Disease
Donation protected
Unfortunately, Lauri Knedlik was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease at a young age called CREST syndrome. Part of this syndrome can result in pulmonary hypertension in scleroderma, which is high blood pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. This has led to pulmonary arterial hypertension, meaning the right side of Lauri’s heart has to pump harder to move blood into the lungs to pick up oxygen.. this can lead to failure of the right side of the heart. The scleroderma has drastically progressed in her lungs causing her to have very low lung function. On July 10, 2019 the virus staphylococcal pneumonia attacked Lauri’s body and she had to be immediately transported to the ER and then admitted into the ICU. A few hours later the Doctors had no choice but to intubate her and allow a ventilator machine to breathe for her. Because there was no significant improvement in her lungs after 16 days of being on the ventilator through an endotracheal tube, Lauri had to go into surgery for a tracheostomy on July 26, 2019.
Unfortunately, CREST syndrome has no known cure, but with time on the ventilator and rehab Lauri has a chance for more time here.
As Lauri is fighting for an extension of life we ask for donations to help her fight with what she has left so she’s able to get to spend more time with her friends and family.
We greatly appreciate any amount received to help with medical bills as Lauri is a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend to many, and an all around amazing woman.
Above all else, we ask for prayers as she continues this fight.
