Send Laila to Unicycle World Champs

As a female, as a primary school teacher, and as a unicycle club founder, I feel it is pertinent to lead a physically active life and be a positive role model for the fellow females, students and people of my club. 

I have the opportunity to represent Australia at UNICON19 in South Korea in both Unicycle Hockey and Mountain Unicycling.  At Australian Unicycle Championships in October 2017, I came 1st in open female Cross Country Mountain Unicycling and Downhill Mountain Unicycling, coming 7th overall, including all male competitors in both disciplines. 

I have been training hard, both at the gym and unicycling. As a result, I now have the incredible opportunity to represent my country and continue to lead by example, aiming to inspire others to do what makes them happy. 

The issue being that this trip must be self funded. As a school teacher, I am unable to take leave when I like, and as a result I will have to take leave without pay. This means a financial loss, and an impact on my annual leave as I will not have worked a full year, and will not be entitled to my full holiday pay. 

This fundraising will stop me going in to credit card debt in order to represent my country, and will relieve financial and emotional strain on myself which is impacting my ability to train  and compete at my highest level. 

Any additional funds raised, extra to what is required to transport and accommodate myself in South Korea, will be donated to Beyond Blue a charity which provides help to people of all ages and abilities who are struggling with their mental health.
