Kristy’s Foot Surgery & Expenses

Hi, my name is Christina Curtis and I am Kristy’s mom.
First I want to thank you all for taking the time to visit this page.. Kristy was hesitant to let me create this page, as she does not like asking for help, but Kristy is one of the most positive, strongest, selfless people I know, and she deserves a chance to begin her new life with her new fancy foot. A little back story:
When Kristy was in first grade (6 years old), she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of tumor that grows in the bones and/or the tissue around the bones. One of these tumors was sitting on her spine; during surgery to remove the tumor they found that the nerves to her left foot were wrapped around another one of the tumors. Unfortunately, all of the nerves to her left foot had to be severed to remove the tumor, which resulted in “drop foot” and nerve damage. As Kristy has gotten older, she has struggled with the frustration of not being able to walk normally, participate in certain physical activities that are affected by limited range of motion in her foot, and possibly one of the biggest frustrations of being a woman.. it is extremely painful for her to wear heels. Fortunately, she is able to have a surgery that will not only repair her foot, but will hopefully help her lead a more normal life. She is scheduled for this surgery on August 6th, but will be out of work and unable to bear any weight on her foot for 6-8 weeks. While she is looking forward to the repair, she is also worried about the financial strain this will put on her, temporarily. Kristy’s ability to work will be hindered as she will need to keep her leg elevated and will not be able to drive during this time. Her job is willing to work with her as to allow her to work from home and to go into work when possible after 2 weeks, however, it will not be the 40 hours a week as it is now but actually just a few hours a week. Since she finally agreed to let me create this page, I ask you all.. friends, family, or anyone that feels compelled to donate.. monetarily or even prayers and good vibes. Every little bit is MUCH appreciated and will help tremendously!
