Help Kasie have an education

Please help us to give my cousin Kasie the opportunity to get a degree in Biochemistry.

Kasie is a bright and beautiful 19 year old woman who has a passion for Biochemistry science.

Kasie currently lives in St Kathrein Jamaica where every day is a struggle. The things we take for granted are a luxury to Kasie her mother and her disabled father.

Kasie didn’t have an easy life growing up, at age 9 her father was diagnosed with Parkinson disease which involved him having numerous brain operations. Kasie’s dad was also involved in a fatal accident at work that resulted in him having a spinal injury paralysing him from the waist down. Without the ability to walk the responsibility fell to Kasie to provide an income for the family. Kasey had to find work as a fruit picker, this gives her £20 a week to support her family.

After the accident Kasie’s father was in need of 24-hour care. Jamaica does not have the privilege of having an excellent and free health care system. This resulted in Kasie’s mum Sofia becoming her father’s full-time career.

Kasie's mum always encourages her to follow her dreams but it is proving her very difficult to do in her present circumstances in Jamaica.

Since her dad’s accident Kasie has made it her mission to study science so that perhaps one day she could discover something that could help her father and other people in similar circumstances.

She is extremely passionate about science and her dream is to come to the UK to study Biochemistry science at Kings College London school in September 2019.

We are trying to raise the money by June 2019 which will give Kasie enough time to apply for the course and find work to support her education.

The visa restrictions by the Home Office states that international student’s ability to work is no more than 20 hours a week. Due to these restrictions, we are hoping to raise funds to cover some of the living costs by working longer hours outside of term time.

Please can you help by donating whatever you can. No donation is too small and all are appreciated. If you are unable to donate currently please help by sharing my cousins story on your social media platforms.

Thank you for taking your time to read Kasie’s story.
