Help Julian's Mom Stay

Julian is three-years-old and has 2 older brothers who attend Scarlett Middle School and Pioneer High School in the Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) district. Julian was born very small with special medical needs and his mom stayed home to care for him, while his father worked to support their family. Two months ago, his parents were rushing him to the emergency room for his trouble breathing when they were pulled over by immigration officers. Julian watched distressed as his father was suddenly handcuffed and taken away. This was the last time he saw his father, who was deported soon after.
Now we need your support to help Julian’s mom stay. She has lived in the U.S. for more than 10 years with citizen children, has no criminal record and a very strong case to remain here legally, but has no means to pay her lawyer even at a reduced rate. Please help us raise the $2,575 she needs to fight to stay. (Your contribution will go directly to $2,500 in legal fees plus the 3% GoFundMe processing fee.) Julian needs to stay in the US to continue to receive medical treatment and Julian needs his mom.
In the past month without her husband, Julian’s mother has found ways to make ends meet and continue to care for him and his older brothers. She is also supporting a nephew whom she took in this past year after he was orphaned; he lives with them and also attends AAPS schools. She has found some part-time work, is utilizing food pantries and other food assistance programs, and drawing on community support, but legal fees are still beyond her means.
As they navigate through these challenges, Julian’s family is being actively supported by two volunteer groups collaborating together: the Washtenaw Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Rights (WICIR.org ); and by the Scarlett Middle School Immigration Support Team, a group of staff members who advocate for the needs of immigrant students and families in the Scarlett and the AAPS community.
