Help Jonathan and his family

Donation protected
My godson Jonathan Hurley is a kind, loving 13 year old boy with a beautiful soul.  He is the youngest of the three boys of my lifelong best friend Nancy and her husband Dave.  Although Jonathan was diagnosed with diabetes in July of 2016, a difficult diagnosis for anyone,  it would not be his biggest battle. In October of this year, after what they thought was a bout of pneumonia, Jonathan was diagnosed with metastatic cancer, carcinoma of unknown origin. Jonathan's kind of cancer is so rare that the doctors at Boston Children's Hospital, Jimmy Fund Clinic, Brigham and Woman's and at Dana-Farber, the best kids' cancer doctors in the world, cannot even determine what kind it is.  Because of the aggressiveness of his cancer, chemotherapy was started based on educated guesswork.  Although he was able to visit home briefly after his first cycle of chemotherapy, unfortunately Jonathan had to be readmitted, as his cancer had continued to grow and was now in his bone marrow.

Jonathan continues to be a fighter, and he and his family are trying to stay positive. His parents are so very proud of him and how he is handling this! But, they are of limited means;  Nancy works as a Personal Care / Nursing Assistant and has been supporting her family with her income alone, as Dave had to leave work due to his own medical issues and, later, had to stop working all together to take care of his ailing father.  They have struggled to pay bills and are now at risk of foreclosure on their home.

Dave is juggling traveling to Boston for daily visits with Jonathan, making sure Brenden, their 16 year old son gets to school, sports practices and games, and continues as the primary caregiver to his father. Nancy has taken a leave from work as she is essentially living at the hospital with Jonathan.

They are in immediate need of assistance.

PLEASE help my dearest friend and her family at this most difficult time in their lives. Given the uncertainty regarding Jonathan's diagnosis and progression of his disease, and the lack of income for the family at this time, I hope to raise money for their myriad expenses, including medical, mortgage, travel, and basic daily living costs.

ANYTHING you can afford to give will help them!

We continue to hope that Jonathan will soon be able to come home and spend time with his brothers Brenden and Mark, his guinea pig Brady, his dogs Buddy and Bella, and of course his mom and dad.
