Help John fight his Rare Cancer

$2,645 of $100,000 goal

Raised by 32 people in 5 months
Created March 17, 2019
John has been diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma cancer.  He has Ewings Sarcoma which is rare for a 36-year-old man to have.  John is a single father raising his two daughters aged 14 and 12.  He is starting extreme-aggressive chemotherapy that will last for 3 months and then will have surgery to remove any remnants of the cancer.  He will then have 4 more months of chemotherapy.

John is a Firefighter and is a first responder in many situations.  He is dedicated to saving the lives of others.  He has not been able to work due to the pain since January.  At first, the Doctor thought the pain was just an injury to the cartilage near his rib from sneezing.  After a few weeks of the pain not going away, the Doctor did a CT Scan.  The CT showed a mass in his rib area.  A PET Scan and biopsy confirmed that he has the Ewings Sarcoma.

The expense of the chemotherapy and surgery will be high.  John has used all his sick days and will have no income coming in to meet his monthly mortgage payments and other household expenses or medical expenses.

I am asking if you can help save this man's life so he can get back to saving others lives.  Any amount large or small will help reach the goal and is wholeheartedly appreciated.  Thank you so much in advance.

John just completed his 5th round of Chemo. He is doing fairly well after this round. He started the round with a delay due to an infection he got after taking antibiotics. They treated it with another antibiotic and then he was able to complete the round of Chemo. The tumor has shrank quite a bit. Continue the shares and prayers. It's working!

I am spending Mother's Day with John. I love my son so much. This has been a rough treatment for him this time. He has slept most of the 5 days he has been here. Being nauseous has been a big issue this time, but he tries to hold some nutrition down. Please keep John in your prayers. We go home in the morning so hopefully he will start feeling better once home.

John will begin his second round of Chemotherapy today. I hope this one goes as well as the last round. He has just started feeling good again. I'll update you when this round is over.

John wanted me to give a big Hug and Thanks to everyone who has donated to help him and to everyone for their prayers and well wishes as he goes through this fight. A big Thank You to everyone involved in fundraisers on his behalf. I have attached a photo of him exhausted after the first night of Chemo and one of him getting ready to come home after a 2 day treatment in the hospital turned into 4 days in the hospital. The chemo dragged him down a bit, but thankfully he gets a small break before he goes back for round 2.
