Help buy Jode auto wheelchair/ leg

My name is Jodie Sheffield and I was born with a congenital birth defect. I am missing both arms above the elbow, and my left leg above the knee. At times, life can be a struggle, with the pain associated with my disability. Additionally I experience mental health issues directly attributable to my condition.

I normally walk with a prosthetic leg, although it is getting harder as I get older. My spine and hips are out of alignment making it more and more difficult for me. Unfortunately I have not had a usable prosthetic leg for approximately 18 months (due to bungling bureaucracy) and have relied on an outdated, inappropriate manual wheelchair. I can move around my house in this chair, but I am very limited getting around outside my house.  This tends to lead to greater feelings of loneliness and isolation, as I am unable to leave the house without assistance.

I am hoping, with your assistance, to raise money to buy an electric wheelchair. This chair could potentially provide me with the freedom to be more mobile, and get out and about. The funds raised can help organise an occupational therapist to assess my needs, purchase an electric chair and assist with modifications that will be necessary with a new chair (i.e. ramps). You may ask why the government is not providing this for me. I have been waiting for over 18 months to get a new leg, and it is still in the pipeline. In the meantime it is quite disheartening to live the way I have been. I want to get out and enjoy life like most people.
