Struggling with bills & car please help!
I have medical bills and credit cards that are now severely past due and keep getting over limit fees. I'm owing about $5,000 with medical and credit cards. My other issue is my car. It's 19 years old and something was going wrong on it pretty much every other week for the past year. Now, just to go along with everything else in my life, it's completely broke down--transmission went out. So I need to A. fix it (expensive and pointless with how old it is), or B. get another junker, and I don't have any money for either option. I have been relying on coworkers and friends to get me to and from work for the past week and they can't continue to do so. So I desperately need a new (used) car. I was thinking something around $2,000 that may actually last a few years without needing work every other week, but realistically I just desperately need something that runs for now.
Lastly, I would like to get a crown on my tooth. While this is the least of my priorities right now, it is actually very important. I suffer from migraines (have all of my adult life) and this tooth on the right side of my mouth is adding to it pretty bad. I don't want to pull it due to the fact it's toward the front of my mouth. But it's keeping me in terrible pain and aggravating my migraines, which makes life generally miserable. If I end up having to pull it I will, but being able to get it capped would be amazing.
There's more to my story but I don't want to burden anybody else with tons more details--sob stories aren't really my thing and I hate to even have to do this. But in all honestly I'm in dire need of help and don't have anyone that has money to give out. I also cannot get approved for a personal loan or even car loan, otherwise I would turn to that option instead. I thank you sincerely for your time and any help you may give.
For those wondering, I had to buy a junker for now or I was going to lose my job. $400 for a 1986 Mercury Sable that has a hard time turning right and leaks oil. But it RUNS! And it has worked so far for the past two weeks. I'm hoping to be able to get something in the $1,000 range that might actually make it through a midwest winter.
I haven't been able to make much progress on my other goals -- it's been a "just barely scrape by" situation for the past month. Any further donations are deeply appreciated from the bottom of my heart, I truly mean it when I say I appreciate every one of you, whether I know you personally or not. Family, friends, acquaintances and random kind strangers alike. Thank you so much.
With the medical bills, just call them to set up a payment plan. I am in about 15k of debt from them myself, but I call them up every month and pay 5$ a piece. It shows I am trying and I haven't forgotten about them. It is a start in the right direction and it will keep you out of collections. And please call your credit card companies and ask for a lowered interest rate. I hope this helps and I hope the best for you. If any of the medical is hospital debt, go immediately to the payment center and ask for financial aid assistance paperwork, fill it out and I bet you will get a grant to pay it off.
Im sorry your in the situation your in, if you want the only thing i could give you is some knowledge on how to never get into this again. WakeUpWithRico.com
Jill, we're not far from your situation, but payday is tomorrow so I'll try to get you something.
Jill - I've been there, as has my family. Money is for many always a struggle. Don't let it keep your spirit down! Keep working hard, make good solid choices, set goals and work towards them
put up a mailing address. I will not give out this kind of info to my financials online.
Jill, I really wish I were in a position to help. I have a page on this site too (I've been out of work since Feb due to cancer and I've racked up over 8k in medical bills) I'm sending lots of love, prayers and positive energy your way. Keep your head held high!
