Jessica's Cancer Story

ON JULY 14, 2019 AT 10:50 AM: JESSICA PASSED AWAY. I will update with the date of our funeral plans. NEWEST UPDATE-07/13/19: Jessica was brought into the nursing home Friday 07/12/19 as this was her wish.  Hospice will continue their care with her while she is there. Jessica has been sleeping all day with the exception of taking her medication. Her ability to communicate has severely diminished as well as her ability to comprehend even small requests.  She has not been able to eat and her pain has gotten extremely bad. We will continue to keep everyone informed. ***************************************** NEWER UPDATE-06/29/19: Jess was placed with in home hospice care on June 27th. Shes still functioning as much as she can right now. The chemo that they had tried was making her liver fail a lot faster than it was to begin with. We were told Jess had "1 week, 2 weeks, or possibly a month" left. Jessica's update: since the last update, we have seen Jessy's regular oncologist as well as traveled out to Boston for a second opinion from Dana Farber. Jessica has over 20, yes, 20+ tumors in her brain. These are all over and not just in one location, because of this, the tumors are inoperable. Just about a month ago Jessy was given tops 3 months to live. Fortunately, her insurance approved her last option, a chemo pill, the doctors are not optimistic this will do much. There is no coming back from where she is but it may give her an extra month.. or two. Jessy is a fighter and won't give up easily, so.. we are believing in unicorns right now. All recent donations will be going to Jessica's funeral costs. Keep in mind.. this GoFundMe has been up for 3 years and the majority was donated towards her previous medical bills. Due to her life expectancy we need all the help we can receive at this point for her last wishes. Thank you all so much for everything you all have done throughout the years. *****************************Jessica Howlett is a 31 year old mother of three beautiful children. She was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 29, 2016. Once diagnosed, an MRI identified one tumor with a 5.5 cm mass and set her up with an oncologist and plastic surgeon. On January 30, 2017, Jessica went into surgery at Baystate Medical Center to undergo a bilateral mesectomy. During the mesectomy they took out the tumor and lymph nodes for further testing. We all thought this was the light at the end of the tunnel, that the illness that had stressed Jessica and her family for months was close to an end, until the report came back with the results. The results confirmed the cancer was stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, the tumor grew to 9cm between November to January and spread to nearby lymph nodes. Chemotherapy was scheduled before Jessica had her additional surgery to remove (what was thought) to be the last of the cancer. From there, Jessica had radiation. Shortly after Jessica was having a lot of pain in her back and hips, she called her doctor to see what was going on. Jessica was sent in for a bone scan which showed the cancer had spread to her spine, hips, and upper thigh. She then went for an MRI which showed curious findings on her liver. A biopsy on the liver confirmed it to be metastatic breast cancer. Jessica was set up with injections to strengthen her bones as well as a second round of radiation. Her doctor wanted to remove her ovaries to keep it from spreading further, Jessica was set up with scans before the surgery would take place. The scan had shown it was already in her ovaries. Jessica is still continuing to fight back everyday.  Due to the extent of the cancer, the treatment plan as well as additional testing Jessica has been unable to work. Please help us give Jessica one less thing to worry about. This is a very stressful time for her, her kids, friends and family any donation would be greatly appreciated.
