Help Jenna Get Her Service Dog!!

It is finally happening!

After a long time of waiting and praying for clear direction for our family, we decided to apply for a service dog through Canine Companions. I was born with a hearing impairment that certifies me as legally deaf. For most of my life, I have been so blessed with friends and family who have helped me to overcome this disability. However, as my own family has grown and my role as a mommy has become more demanding, I am aware that my needs have changed. A service dog would be a blessing to me in ways I cannot describe. A service dog would alert me to alarms, sirens, distressed children, and people coming and going at my door. Even while driving, a service dog would alert me to coming emergency vehicles. When taking a walk with my children outside, a service dog would alert me of approaching motor vehicles. A fun benefit is that my family might not have to eat burned food because a service dog would alert me when the timer goes off!! On the few occasions that my husband has to be out of town for work, I stay awake all night in fear of fire alarms going off or children needing me without my knowledge. A service dog would assist me in all of these areas and so much more.

Canine Companions has invited me to come to their facilities in Orlando, Florida to train with a service dog on January 30-February 10. During this time, I will get the chance to choose a precious dog that I most connect with, will be in class working with expert trainers, and will get to learn how to work with my service dog on a daily basis. Upon graduation, I will be able to bring our newest member of the family home with me!

My goal is to raise $3000 by the end of February 2016. I know this sounds like a lot of money!! So let me break it down a little. This sum would cover the cost of travel and stay in Orlando, FL for training and transition. I would like to set my home up well for a service dog as well as purchase travel accessories like portable mats, food bowls, toys, etc. Because of the nature of what the dog is to our family, I would like to have several months of high quality food in stock at our home.

Most importantly, we will set up a health savings account for our service dog. In the event of medical emergencies, we want to make sure we can care for this dog at all cost!

Please consider contributing to our family by helping me bring this incredible blessing to our home! Every little bit helps!

Thank you!
