Help Jeff get from Haiti to BYU-I!

Donation protected
Have you ever had the desire to create a better future for yourself and your family but not had the resources to do so?

Then you can relate to my friend Jeff St. Louis.

Here's the thing: you will never meet a kinder or more dedicated soul than Jeff St. Louis.

In November I visited Haiti and Jeff tirelessly translated for us the entire time. He is kind, ambitious and has big dreams.

If you've ever been to Haiti, you know that certain resources and opportunities are not as easily available to Haitians.

Education, health care and things we take for granted like running water and electricity are hard to come by in Haiti.

The annual per capita income is about US $450,
and most of the population (60 percent) faces underemployment.

Jeff knows this and wants to create better opportunities for him and his future family (he's currently engaged, yay!). He has been working hard to learn English and take the right exams that qualify him to attend college in America.

Jeff has done everything he can on his end, but unfortunately now he's facing the part he needs help with: having the funds to attend college.

Once Jeff gets to BYU-I he plans to apply for scholarships and work jobs to pay for both tuition and housing, but the first slump is what he needs help with.

Can you help?

I want you to get to know how amazing Jeff is too, so please enjoy this letter from him:

Hello,

My name is Jeff Junior St Louis, I am Haitian and I live in Haiti.

I wrote two *story books* for kids: (They are not published yet. Lack of funds); now I am working on/writing a *novel* , I love writing and learning but it is not always easy to get the kind of *education* we want here in Haiti so I decided to apply to study on campus at BYU Idaho.

To do so I must have a *sponsor*/scholarship, which I am looking for. In order for me to be eligible, I have to make a $4, 000 US deposit DUE BY MARCH 1 before the form I-20 is created. This deposit will be available for the following expenses:

1) Shipping of the I-20 and related immigration documents;
2) Payment of first semester tuition, currently $ 2, 009;
3) Balance will be used for school related expenses such as insurance, books, housing etc.

I chose the USA because I want to learn more about the American Culture so that I can be more effective in interpreting from English into Creole and more importantly I want to improve my English skills so that I can write more books in the English language about America and *the way they touch my people's heart* when they come here in Haiti to do humanitarian works etc.

So now, my friends, my question is, *What stops you from sponsoring me?* Nothing, right?

Thank you beforehand!

Jeff St. Louis
I'd love to ask again: can you help?

We need to raise $4,000 by March 1.

No amount is too small. Any donation helps and is so appreciated to help Jeff change the very course of his future. Thank you so much!
