Help Jeff Beat Acute Pancreatitis

Donation protected
About three months ago our parents were driving up north when Dad doubled over in pain. He was lying on the side of the road when the ambulance came for him. He was eventually taken to Saginaw where they diagnosed him with severe acute necrotizing pancreatitis, a very rare and fatal condition caused by a gallstone.

His pancreas was destroying itself and attempting to take other organs with it. Dad was put on a ventilator and supportive care for all organs. After ten days in the ICU, Saginaw hospital told us there wasn't much they could do for him. Our mom got U of M to airlift him back to Ann Arbor. Since then he was intubated twice more, infected multiple times, septic, and had a few surgeries with more in the future. His kidneys are failing and he will likely need a transplant. His pancreas is almost completely gone at this point, although doctors do not know the exact amount that is left.

After months in the ICU he was discharged last week to sub-acute rehab to recover and gain back his strength which is a slow process, but he is handling it well. He is now, unfortunately, being readmitted to U of M with another infection.

The future holds PT, OT, a gallbladder surgery, and a potential kidney transplant for our dad. Doctors anticipate it taking 8-12 months before he is back to his old self. Our mom left her job to be with him daily and has not left his side since August. With both of them not working and medical bills stacking up, we are finding it difficult to keep afloat.

We are turning to our friends and family for help keeping our family fighting during this trying time. Our parents have supported us and cared for us our entire lives, and we are trying to do the same for them. If you are able to help, please consider doing so and know that it means the world to us. We aren't sure how much we are trying to raise exactly, but any amount would help take the financial stress off of our parents. We are amazed by their love, faith, and strength. We are eternally grateful to God for all of the protection and healing he has given our dad, and we are amazed and grateful to the amazing doctors and nurses at St. Mary's Saginaw and U of M Hospital for the top care they have been giving our Dad.  We ask that you continue to keep our him in your prayers.

Thank you for love, prayers, and support.
