Help Jasmine with Her Degrees

To whom it may concern:

My name is Jasmine Nagal and I am a 25 year old college student. I have faced several obstacles that have prevented me from reaching my goal (attending and completing college). In 2012, I was blessed enough to attend UC Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, two years into my undergrad, I had to withdraw from UCSC because me and my parents did not qualify for more loans to cover my tuition. While I did receive a small amount of loans,  the college expected my family to fork out thousands of dollars. My parents, who had to foreclose on their house - my childhood home - were still struggling to pay off their debt and bills. My father, a seasonal construction worker, and my mother, a stay at home mom and the glue of the family, tried their best to help me.

After withdrawing and moving back home,  I took a semester off before returning to my local junior college. Here, I tried to prepare to transfer to a closer and more affordable state university. Again, I faced another obstacle: I couldn’t afford my year at junior college. In that moment, I was determined and hopefully. As a homeschooled child, I wished my hardest to attend college and “get out there.” So in 2015, I crowdfunded for my one year at my junior college. With that money, I was able to afford to finish my transfer units and apply to CSU Stanislaus.

I began at CSU Stanislaus in 2016 with the desire and motivation to complete my BA in Psychology. Growing up, I always had an interest to mental health and the therapy that helps those in need. Halfway into my time at Stan State, I encountered the Ethnic Studies Major - the interdisciplinary subject that studies ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, and power. I decided to double major in both subjects and recently chose to become a college professor for Ethnic Studies. All I want is to see my parents’ smiling faces as I walk the stage to receive my degrees.

Today, just two weeks before my last semester, I found out that the financial aid office at Stanislaus has decided to rescind my financial aid award due to me meeting my maximum units. Because of financial aid regulations, the award money has been taken away since I’ve attended college some years too long. I currently need $3,538 to cover my tuition, excluding parking fees and textbooks by FEBRUARY 8.
As I stand strong, these obstacles have taught me to keep pushing and move forward no matter heartbreaking or difficult the situation may be. I ask of you, anyone who wishes to help, please help me by either donating any amount you may wish or simply sharing my GoFundMe.
