Help Jane McKinley's Heart Transplant

As most of you know, our mom has been nothing but a fighter for the last 21 years. In 1998, after being in remission from Breast Cancer for a year, mom was diagnosed with heart failure, Cardiomyopathy. One of the drugs, during her chemotherapy treatment damaged her heart. In 2001 she had a defibrillator put in, and was able to resume and enjoy a normal life doing the things she loved like traveling, being outside, swimming, taking walks with Maggie / Sophie and spending time with her friends and family.
As most would know her, she doesn’t let a “little” thing like heart failure, discourage her from anything. In fall of 2017 she traveled and watched her Amber get married in Jamaica, and a short year later watched Jessica get married in Manhattan, KS!
This last fall, in 2018 things started to change, and she started to realize this yucky thing called Heart Failure, was keeping her from living her normal life, and things she loved. After a handful of visits to the hospital, and seeing several doctors, they decided we needed to take action and Jane was referred to the Mid America Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
They have been wonderful, proactive, supportive, and beyond hopeful. The process to receive a heart, is moving very fast. Mom, was admitted Tuesday, March 5th to begin the heart transplant candidate protocol. We thought it would be a few days, overnight with several tests, and meetings with heart transplant specialists, and then a waiting game but they have found reasoning for more urgency and unfortunately her heart is getting weaker. On Friday March 8th she was added to the UNOS, National Heart Transplant List. She will remain at St. Luke’s until she receives a donor heart. ❤️
Everyone that knows Jane, even a few simple words of encouragement, would be just as valuable as any donation.
