Help Jacob beat Medulloblastoma

Donation protected
Please help support the Cazares family as baby Jacob fights medulloblastoma.

On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, Jacob had a small fall, and shortly after he began vomiting.  His parents, Kaila and Steven, took him to the local emergency room and were he was soon diagnosed with a mass in brain.  He and Kaila were rushed from the local ER to Kaiser in Los Angeles via ambulance.  They performed an MRI and discovered a 3 cm tumor in his brain along with significant swelling.  Without even heading home to pack clothes, Steven followed behind by car.

Once at Kaiser, the doctors performed an emergency surgery to remove and diagnose the mass.  After almost ten agonizing hours, the tumor was removed and the doctors felt confident they had gotten it all.  A drain was put in place to remove the fluid buildup surrounding Jacob's brain.  Kaila, Steven, and Jacob spent the next two weeks in the hospital in Los Angeles while their other two sons (Matthew, age 3, and Noah, age 10) waited anxiously at home for their return and good news about their baby brother.

Jacob was eventually diagnosed with terminal Grade 4 Medulloblastoma.  Their only hope is that an aggressive course of chemotherapy, followed by a stem cell transplant will destroy any remaining cancer cells and give Jacob a new shot at life.  Treatment is scheduled to begin May 27, 2019 at Children's Hospital San Diego.  Jacob will need to stay at the hospital in San Diego for at least four months during his chemotherapy infusions, an another month or more for his stem cell transplant in Los Angeles.  This means Kaila and Steven will split their time between their home in Temecula and the hospitals, and divide their attention between their sons, now hours apart.  Though the family will be physically separated during much of this treatment, we are hopeful that by raising funds, we can minimize the burden that Steven, Kaila and family will face.

We are asking for donations to cover the cost of surgeries, chemotherapy treatment and stem cell therapy, as well as to provide childcare for Matthew and Noah, and to replace lost income for Kaila and Steven during this time.

Any donation of any amount will be appreciated.  Please also continue to pray for Kaila, Steven, Jacob, Matthew, and Noah as they battle childhood cancer together.
