Help Izzy Kick Cancer to the Curb!

Donation protected
Hello and thanks for taking time out of your day to read this!

My very close friend Islam – or Izzy, as most of us know him – is 32 years old and was diagnosed with a form of cancer called Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) in November. For those of you that know him, you know that Izzy is an extraordinary human being. He is always cheerful and making jokes, brings life to any room he enters, and most of all he is selfless. That is the reason I am writing this.

Luckily, he was able to catch the cancer at an earlier stage. It all started as what was thought to be a simple toothache. For the past 2 months, Izzy has been to countless dentists, doctors, and surgeons all while trying to balance this with his work and normal life. Izzy owns and operates his own small business, a driving school, and has an adorable daughter and incredible wife.

In the last week, he received news of what is to come. He will need to have surgery to remove the cancer from his jaw. This surgery is very intensive (14 hours and 30+ doctors) and will require removing his molars and lymph nodes and cutting out the right half of his jaw down to the base. Then his jaw will be reconstructed using a bone from his leg. Needless to say, Izzy has a tough road ahead as he will need to learn to eat and speak with his new jaw and to walk without part of the bone in his leg. If anyone can do it, it is our stubborn-as-a-mule Izzy! After rehab is complete, he still has several months of radiation and chemotherapy to kill any remaining cancer cells.

Because of all this, Izzy will be unable to work for several months and his medical expenses have yet to be covered. So far, the process has taken two months and his rehab will be up to six months. The surgery is needed as soon as possible to relieve Izzy of the intense pain and to prevent the cancer from spreading. Izzy already had to take off a lot of time from work due to the pain and has had to pay several thousand dollars out-of-pocket just for scans and testing. He has received word that if he does not start the entire process over down in Richmond, VA the cost of the lengthy surgery, rehab, and couple months of chemo will continue to come out-of-pocket.

With these medical expenses and the necessities of everyday life on top of raising his beautiful daughter, being an amazing husband and son, and running his own business, money will be getting tighter and tighter.

Izzy is one of the strongest, most determined, and selfless people I have ever come across. There is no end to Izzy lending his hand, his ear, or his heart to each and every one of us in any time of need. This gets said about people quite often, but I am not just saying it. I have literally seen this man give someone the shirt off his back. I am extremely proud to consider him a best friend…a brother.

Now, I ask you to send back some of that love and support Izzy’s way. Anything you can donate will be extremely and truly appreciated. Surrounding Izzy with love and support is what is most important. Positive energy and prayers will help Izzy completely kick cancer’s ass! I have no doubt, and neither does he, that he will come back from this stronger than ever. Please spread the word and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
