Help Iris Ramos fight Lymphoma

Iris has been battling non-Hodgkin’s follicular lymphoma since 2011. She underwent chemo and radiation treatment until 2016 and was in remission for a very short time. In the beginning of 2018 the disease returned, and she was diagnosed with stage 3. She is presently receiving chemo treatment in preparation for stem cell transplant. A stem cell transplant may sometimes be a necessary treatment for patients with lymphomas. With a stem cell transplant, the stem cells are obtained from the patient’s bone marrow and are then given back to the patient following high a dose chemo treatment, which can damage (kill off) these vital cells. The engrafted stem cells can then restore bone marrow function impaired or destroyed by the high dose conditioning therapy. The intense treatment will cause her to be laid up and out of work for an undetermined amount of time. Her out-patient and hospital stay for the transplant will be approximately 6 weeks in Boston, barring there are no complications. After the transplant, she will be required to be homebound with care takers and make frequent follow up appointments to Boston for an undermined amount of time.
We the Ortiz siblings, are petitioning you on her behalf, asking you to please consider giving towards her health and wellness fund. The money will help pay the traveling to Boston hospital, medical bills not covered by insurance, and living expenses such as: care takers, rent, utilities and other incurred personal expenses while she is out of work.
