Help Horses to Help People

Donation protected
Meadowood Farm is a sole proprietorship that is family owned and Christian-based. The horses and ponies at Meadowood Farm provide equine-assisted therapeutic riding & activities, whether it be to those people with physical or mental disabilities, psychological setbacks, or those who just want to be around horses. 80% of the horses are rescues, ranging from a pony surrendered to a high-kill shelter in Texas, to a horse rescued from a hoarding situation, to a draft horse that was beaten and abused early in life; and they now rescue people in return. Rescued horses are rehabilitated, socialized, and trained to become lesson horses. They are then cared for and loved for the rest of their lives.
All of this, of course, comes with a monetary cost. All money taken in will help to feed, care for and train these horses so that they may continue helping those in need.
Anything helps. Everything helps.
Because people will always need the love and help of these horses, this is a continuing fundraiser with no particular "goal" in mind other than the goal to help as many horses and people as possible. We appreciate everything.

Pictured is Jeanna Giese, who became the first person in the world to survive rabies without being vaccinated in 2004, thanking Maximus for his help. She decided to continue her rehab 14 years later with Maximus at Meadowood Farm. "Although being a rabies survivor has left me with some physical disabilities and a lifelong recovery, it has also given me a new sense of hope. That sense of hope has driven into me a desire to keep improving myself. In November 2018, I started taking Equine-Assisted Therapeutic Riding lessons at Meadowood Farm. The owner/instructor of Meadowood has a special way of helping his clients to feel confident no matter how deep their scars go. The horses and ponies have the ability to reach a person’s inner self, no matter the walls that they have built, just by providing unconditional and nonjudgmental love."

The Farm has a yearly fundraising walkathon where the public can come out and meet the horses and raise pledges to walk with a horse or pony.
Walkathon dates:
2019 - July 20th rescheduled to Aug. 24th
