Help Versie Get Back Home

Donation protected
Hi,

My name is Bryan and this Go Fund Me page is set up to help my wife's 75 year old aunt, Versie Harrison, get back into her Atlanta home after it was made unlivable by a police raid to arrest her son. All of us in her family are working to help her and we are asking for your help. Here is Versie's story:

On the evening of January 18, 2017, 75 year old great-grandmother Versie Harrison was startled by a voice on  a loudspeaker saying "This is the police! Come out with your hands up."

Mrs. Harrison, who has trouble walking, was so shocked she forgot to get her walker or cane as she hurried to follow the orders from the loudspeaker. She slowly made her way down the rarely used front steps and down to the waiting police, who helped her once she was out of the house.

Once she was with the police Versie found out they were there to arrest her 40 year old son. Since the police were not sure where the son was, they made the decision to fire multiple tear gas canisters into the home.  We (her family) are still not clear on the detail because Versie was understandably pretty shook up by all this, but her son was arrested at the scene leaving his mother's home filled with tear gas and riddled with broken windows and other damage.

So now Versie's home is not liveable. The tear gas is still very active in the home, even after almost 2 months. We have been working to do all we can but she needs a professional tear gas remediation crew to make the home safe for her to return to.

She also need all the windows repaired, as well as some drywal and cabinets repaired. Her heating system must be professionally cleaned, her carpet replaced and her appliances professionally cleaned or replaced with used appliances. In addition, her bed and most of her furniture was destroyed during the arrest.

We got several estimates for this ranging from between $15,000 to $30,000 for remediation and repairs. Our goal is to raise at least $15,000 so we can help Versie get back into her home and back with her 2 dogs and 2 cats as soon as possible. We are asking you to please help.

To be very clear, we are NOT asking for help with any of her son's legal issues. NO MONEY raised will go toward legal defense or bail. EVERY PENNY raised will be used for the tear gas remediation and needed repairs.

Our plan to deliver the donations is as follows:

Our first and largest payment will be to the remediation company to start the clean up and detoxification process. This is expected to take 2-4 weeks minimum.

Next we will have to pay for the windows to be replaced and the other repairs to be done (drywall and a couple of window frames)

The next payment will be to  get the heating system and ducts cleaned of all tear gas residue

Next we will hopefully have enough to buy some used appliances (we found out this is the  best solution)

Finally, we need to buy Versie a new mattress and box springs.

Since we cannot begin the process until we have enough to pay the complete remediation cost (at least $12,000), we really need your help.  The faster we can raise the money, the sooner Versie can go home so you can help by sharing Versie's story with all your friends, both on social media and in the "real world".

We ask you to please consider joining us to pull together and help this sweet great-grandmother return to the home she has lived in for the past 55 years. Any amount you can give will be a big help and Versie really would appreciate it. Thank You!
